About
Why we built Elora, and who is behind it.
Elora exists because Lipedema, a condition affecting an estimated one in nine women, spent eighty years in the medical literature without reaching the consulting room.
Women with Lipedema were told to eat less and exercise more. When that did not work, they were told they were not trying hard enough. The condition was real. The advice was wrong. And for most women, it took between ten and twenty years to get an accurate diagnosis.
Elora is built to close that gap. Not by offering false hope or medical advice, but by providing clear, honest, evidence-based information in language that treats every reader as an intelligent adult who deserves straight answers.
We track the research. We translate it into plain language. We provide practical guidance on management, treatment options, and how to navigate a healthcare system that is still catching up. We give women the language and the documentation to advocate for themselves.
Every content page on Elora is reviewed for clinical accuracy. Evidence ratings are applied honestly: Strong where multiple well-designed studies support a conclusion, Emerging where the research is promising but incomplete, and Weak where evidence is limited or contested. We say when we do not know.
We cite our sources. Every claim that draws on research is linked to the original study or guideline.
Elora provides health information, not medical advice. Nothing on this site is a substitute for assessment and advice from a qualified healthcare professional who knows your individual circumstances.
